Curtis Griffiths continues strong form in Northern Ireland

14th August 2017

Aside from Jordan Smith’s success across the pond, it has been another successful week for the MB Partners golfing stable. Both Curtis Griffiths and John Parry enjoyed solid showings in Northern Ireland on the Challenge Tour and Nick Marsh continued to deliver impressive performances on the PGA EuroPro Tour at the Motocaddy Masters.

Challenge Tour

This week marked one of the biggest events on the Challenge Tour calendar, as the roster headed to Galgorm Castle for the Northern Ireland Open. Representing MB Partners at the event were both John Parry and Curtis Griffiths who were both coming into the week fresh off some impressive recent performances.

The pair enjoyed a solid start to the week, with Curtis returning a one-under par opener to place himself in T43 and John signing off for a one-over -par round on day one to lie in T67. Playing under a revised format, with a 24-player matchplay competition on the Sunday, the first cut was made on Friday evening which both Curtis and John negotiated safely. John enjoyed an excellent second day as the Arbuthnot Latham-supported player recorded six birdies on his way to a three-under-par second round. Meanwhile, Curtis notched four birdies as he returned a two-under par second round.

Hoping to both force their way into the top twenty-four at the end of the third day’s play, Curtis and John faced important rounds on the Saturday. Unfortunately the pair both returned level-par rounds on moving day to miss the second cut of the week, with Curtis ultimately ending up in T34 and John, one shot behind, in T45.

PGA EuroPro Tour

Lying in second-place in the Road to Amendoeira Order of Merit, Nick Marsh headed to Wychwood Park Golf Club for The Motocaddy Masters. The young Yorkshireman has been in fine form of late and was looking to continue this in Crewe.

The Integro-supported player made an excellent start on day one, returning a four-under par opening round to assume a familiar position in the upper end of the leader board. Nick gained a further shot on day two to head into the final day’s play on five-under-par lying in T6. The final day saw the 22-year-old shoot a level-par score which saw him end the week on five-under par and in T6 to mark another positive week’s work.
