Alexander Björk made it four top-twenty finishes from just seven European Tour appearances this season as he claimed a T19 finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters this weekend. The Swede’s consistent form continued as he delivered four consecutive back-to-back under-par rounds on his way to another impressive result.
Alexander was joined in Doha by fellow MB Partners clients Chris Hanson and Jordan Smith who were looking to replicate their 2017 successes in Qatar, where they finished in T18 and T6 respectively.
Jordan got his week off to a flyer carding an opening round of 68, posting six birdies in the process as he lay in T15 after the first day’s play. Meanwhile, Alexander lay well-placed in T53 after day one thanks to a one-under opening round while Chris was left with work to do on day two after a one-over-par opener.
Bouncing back in style, day two brought greater success for the Yorkshireman as Chris carded three birdies in his first nine holes to put himself back in contention to make the cut. With his hopes diminishing with every passing hole, Chris produced a memorable birdie-birdie-birdie finish from his final three holes to make the cut in style.
Unfortunately, Jordan could not build on his excellent round on day one and found himself departing at the halfway stage after missing the cut by a single shot. Björk, though, joined Chris in heading into the weekend as a two-under-par second round left him in T35 on five-under-par.
Moving day saw the Swede continue to climb up the leaderboard as he gained another three shots across the third day’s play thanks to posting another four birdies, leaving him well-placed to make an assault on the top-twenty on the final day.
A birdie at the last helped Chris to a one-under-par third round on the Saturday as he headed into the fourth and final round placed in T58 on five-under overall. His third round exploits were replicated on Sunday as Chris gained another shot to finish the week on six-under-par in T53, accruing further valuable Race To Dubai points in the process.
Heading into the final day in T33 on eight-under, Alexander ended the week with one final flourish as he notched another four birdies as he climbed up to T19 on eleven-under to claim his fourth top-twenty finish of the 2018 European Tour season.
Next week sees both Jordan Smith and Chris Hanson taking a scheduled rest week from the Tour, meaning Alexander will be MB Partners’ sole participant in South Africa at the Tshwane Open.
