John Parry enjoys strong week in Sicily

In a very busy week for the MB Partners golfing stable, it was John Parry and Jordan Smith who finished the week strongest in Sicily at the Rocco Forte Open on the European Tour.

Heading into the week’s contests, all seven of #TeamMBP were in action; with Jordan Smith, John Parry, Chris Hanson and Duncan Stewart in Sicily for the European Tour, while Seve Benson, Curtis Griffiths and Nick Marsh were in Spain on the Challenge Tour.

Conditions in Spain at the Match Play 9 proved difficult throughout the first half of the week as Seve and Curtis were unable to make the cut. Hopes were high after Nick Marsh’s first round of one-under par but the Yorkshireman was unable to replicate his form in his second round as he departed at the week’s halfway stage as well.

Turning attention to Sicily; a second-round recovery from Duncan Stewart was not enough for him to make the cut. Meanwhile, Chris Hanson agonisingly missed the cut by a single shot despite carding consecutive under-par rounds.

That meant that Jordan Smith and John Parry were MB Partners’ sole representatives across the weekend as they both headed into moving day on six-under par and in T46. Unfortunately, the pair both returned over-par totals on moving day as they were unable to trouble the upper echelons of the leader board.

A final round of two-over par led John to a T55 finish, ending on one-under for the week making it a vital Race To Dubai point-scoring week for the Arbuthnot Latham-sponsored golfer.

Elsewhere, Jordan enjoyed a two-under par final round to lift the 24-year-old to a T48 finish on two-under par overall for the week to continue his excellent debut season on the European Tour.

Attention now turns to one of the year’s most prestigious events, the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club, which will see both Jordan Smith and Chris Hanson make their event debuts.

The Challenge Tour moves on to the D+D REAL Czech Challenge where Seve Benson and Curtis Griffiths will both be in action.
