John Parry made an excellent return to European Tour action this week in Denmark, claiming a season’s best top-twenty finish at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort for the Made In Denmark challenge.
The 30-year-old headed to the Danish course having made consecutive cuts on the Challenge Tour in Finland and Northern Ireland in the month since his last European Tour event in Hamburg at the Porsche European Open.
A storming first round of 66, which included six birdies, meant the Englishman headed into day two inside the top-ten on five-under-par. A more difficult day followed on the Friday as the course was battered with winds of up to thirty miles-per-hour, yet despite shooting a one-over-par 72, John made the cut comfortably.
Moving day provided a carbon copy of day two for John as another one-over-par round of 72 saw John slip down the leader-board into T44 heading into the final day’s play. Sunday’s round saw the Arbuthnot Latham-sponsored golfer enjoy his best round of the week, topping his stellar performance from day one with a six-under par round of 65.
A bogey-free final round meant John was one of the biggest movers on the final day as he rocketed up inside the top twenty to a T19 finish. The result marks John’s strongest result of the season and is a timely one as John is straight back in European Tour action at the D+D REAL Czech Challenge.
Head of Golf at MB Partners, Duncan Maxim, was delighted for John and felt that this performance had been coming.
"It was very pleasing to see John perform at the level we all know he’s capable. He has been hitting the ball very well for a while now, but just not producing the scores. We always felt this would turn around and with some encouraging events on the Challenge Tour, it was no surprise it came together. Playing well in Denmark and shooting -5 and -6 should give him a huge confidence boost heading into this week, on a course he knows well."
This coming week promises to be another busy one for the MB Partners golfing stable as John is joined in Prague by Jordan Smith, Chris Hanson and Duncan Stewart while Curtis Griffiths is in France for the Cordon Golf Open. In the UK, Nick Marsh continues his EuroPro campaign at The Jessie May Trust World Snooker Golf Championship looking to cement his place in the top-five of the season’s standings.
