Tom Blomqvist’s preparation for the Nürburgring 24 Hours gets underway this week as the iconic Nürburgring-Nordschleife hosts the six-hour qualification race this weekend.
More than 100 teams have registered for this weekend's qualification event, which will see Tom put in a stint for ROWE Racing along with team-mates Mikkel Jensen and Connor De Philippi who will partner the Integro-sponsored driver for the final opportunity for preparation before the race next month.
BMW Factory Driver, Tom Blomqvist, has a rich track-record of endurance racing success. Last year, he won the prestigious 24 Hours of Spa after an intense day and night of competition, and more recently took pole, fastest lap and a podium finish on his last trip the the ‘Green Hell’.
2019 will mark Tom’s fourth appearance at Germany’s iconic racing event, after first competing there in 2016.
"It’s the final race before the big 24 so it’s going to be extremely important to make sure we get everything ticked off this coming weekend. I think we’re all feeling good as a team and the car is performing well. Hopefully, we can get a good result this weekend and be full of confidence going into the 24 next month."
On Saturday (18th May), the teams are offered the chance of testing and adjusting their cars for three hours on the GP circuit before they go out for the practice session at the Nordschleife from 11:15 (BST).
In the evening, at 17:45, the time schedule features the 2.5-hour qualifying session that will end in the late evening, thus providing the same conditions the teams will have to cope with in the 24h Race.
On Sunday, the second qualifying session will begin at 07:30 and afterwards, the fastest teams will battle it out for the pole in the individual time trials, with the six-hour race will be started at 10:00.
