LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE - ROUND THREE
29-30 JULY 2023
Charlie Martin claimed yet another class podium in round three of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship at the iconic Nürburgring GP circuit with a charge from last place to the third step of the podium in the final race of the weekend.
Looking to build upon the positive start to the season, Charlie and teammate, Jason Keats looked to continue the momentum as the season reached its halfway point.
Charlie would get round three off to a strong start by securing second place on the grid for the opening race of the weekend, even after taking avoiding action to avoid competitors amongst traffic, which led to her narrowly missing out on yet another pole position.
Jason would claim P8 in the second session that followed to set the grid for the final race of the weekend.
Race one on Saturday afternoon would see Charlie taking the green flag and battling at the front of the class for the majority of her stint, climbing to P24 out of 35 cars, before handing the car over to Jason who would bring the car home in P6.
Race two on Sunday morning would see Charlie climb rapidly through the field throughout her stint, showcasing stellar pace to charge up to the podium places by the fall of the chequered flag to claim a thoroughly deserved P3 finish.
Charlie and Jason will return to action at Valencia on the 15-17 September where the pair will look to continue their positive season so far.
"It was a weekend that threw everything at us, but to be back on the podium is a fantastic feeling and testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved!"
"It was frustrating to miss out on pole when two cars almost crashed ahead of me at the penultimate corner - it had to be on my fastest and final lap, but that is racing! "
"I had to push hard to claim that podium in race two, but those are the moments that make it all worth it! Up next Valencia, let's keep pushing!"
