VALLELUNGA
LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE - ROUND FIVE
11-12 NOVEMBER 2023
Charlie Martin claimed yet another class podium with a well-deserved second place finish in the final race of the weekend at Vallelunga as she showcased brilliant speed and race-craft to climb up the order in round five of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship.
Charlie and teammate, Jason Keats, headed to the picturesque Italian venue looking to continue their podium momentum from the previous round in Valencia.
In a weekend that saw a condensed format due to the cancellation of a previous round in Imola, Saturday morning would see two free practice sessions before qualifying later that afternoon.
In the first qualifying session, Charlie would secure P3 in class, before Jason would claim P7 in the following session, setting the grid for Sunday's racing action.
Race one on Saturday afternoon would see Charlie taking the green flag and she would remain clear of trouble on track before handing the car over to Jason who would bring the car home P5 in class.
Race two on Sunday morning would see Jason make a good start, avoiding contact in front between several competitors heading into the first corner.
Charlie would then get behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Evo 2 and immediately begin making progress through the pack.
Charlie would gain five places over her stint to bring the car home P2 in class and P10 overall, finishing only 0.3 seconds behind the leader after a final lap charge, yielding another class podium for the pair.
With the conclusion of round five in the championship, Charlie and Jason now turn their attention to the final round of the season on the 16-17 November.
This will then be followed by the upcoming Lamborghini Super Trofeo world finals, which take place on the same weekend.
"It is great to be back on the podium once again and it feels like another reward for the hard work of everyone involved over the course of this season.
We had a solid race one and stayed clear of trouble to bring the car home in P5, which gave us a good confidence boost to give it everything in the final race of the day.
Jason did brilliant to avoid the incident ahead of him on the first lap and it felt great to be making up the places around a track that is very exciting to drive!
Now all the focus is on the final round of the championship and the upcoming World Final, let's end this season on a high."
