Kanato Le recorded a P4 finish and another brace of fastest laps, setting a new track record in the process in round six of the ROKiT British F4 Championship at the iconic Silverstone Circuit to round out another positive weekend for the Japanese youngster.
Friday's action was kickstarted with solid performances in the two free practice sessions where Kanato would finish P7 and P4 respectively as he geared up for his maiden appearance on the GP layout with Hitech GP.
Saturday morning would see the all-important qualifying session, where Kanato would secure P6 with his fastest lap and P13 in with his second fastest lap for the weekend's racing action.
The opening race of the weekend would see Kanato encounter misfortune with a clutch failure on the grid, resulting in a pit-lane start.
Kanato would put this setback behind him to climb back through the field to P15 by the fall of the chequered flag.
In the reverse grid race that followed on Sunday morning, Kanato would start P16 and was up to P9 by the end of the first lap and climbed further up to P7 a lap later. Unfortunately, contact whilst overtaking for P6 would see him have to pit for repairs.
However, his stellar pace would shine through as he recorded the outright F4 lap record for the Silverstone GP layout in the midst of the race and he would ultimately take the chequered in P17.
For the final race of the day, Kanato would convert his P6 start into a P4 finish, securing another fastest lap in the process and rounding out another successful weekend for himself and the team as the season heads into the Summer break.
Leaving Silverstone, Kanato continues to occupy P4 in the standings with 144 points.
Next up for the young racer is Croft Circuit on the 29-30 July.
