Charlie Martin celebrates P2 finish in Lamborghini Super Trofeo LB Cup

ROUND SIX - Lamborghini Super Trofeo NA championship

  • Charlie Martin and her teammate, Jason Keats, capped off a memorable debut season together by claiming P2 in the LB Cup at Portimão this weekend.

  • A rollercoaster weekend looked set to go down right to the wire until a Race Two puncture spoiled Charlie and Jason's chances of taking home the championship win.

  • The weekend started in perfect fashion as Charlie secured her fourth pole position of the 2022 campaign thanks to another sensational qualifying performance. Her teammate Jason Keats secured a P3 starting position for race two as the pair set their sights on overhauling the elven point deficit.

  • Starting from pole position, Charlie got off to a strong start and was battling the ever-changing track conditions before handing over to Jason just after the midway point. Jason battled hard to secure a strong P2 finish in race one which reduced the lead at the top of the championship to just three points before the final race of the season.

  • In the second race of the weekend, Jason started the race and made fantastic progress to make his way up into P2. With the title moving closer towards Charlie's and Jason's grasp, disaster struck as a punctured tyre forced Jason to limp back into the pits.

  • Charlie fought valiantly in her stint and recovered the car from dead last to a P5 finish. Although not enough to take the title, this spirited comeback was enough to secure the pair P2 in the end-of-season standings - a remarkable achievement for their first season together.

WORLD FINALS

  • Buoyed by their excellent performance across the weekend so far, Charlie and Jason went into the World Finals.

  • Charlie continued her excellent individual performance with a dominant display in Qualifying one, claiming pole position by nearly half a second!

  • Starting race one of the world finals in pole position, Charlie made great work of maintaining a gap between her and P2 keeping her position up front before handing it over to Jason. Jason battled hard in the thick of the action and was able to bring the car home in P3, as the duo celebrated a podium position in the World Finals contest!

  • For the final race of the weekend in World finals, the #154 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 started in P8 following Jason's qualifying performance. The pair made great progress throughout the race leading the team to take the chequered flag in P5.

  • These results gained Charlie and Jason a fourth-place finish overall in the World Finals to sign off an excellent season together behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2.

"This weekend was a rollercoaster from start to finish. We gave it everything and took the title fight right to the wire but it wasn't to be as the puncture in Race Two spoiled our chances. Nonetheless, achieving P2 in the championship is a great achievement and we couldn't have done it without our amazing team. On a personal level, I was really pleased to achieve two more pole positions to sign the year off - particularly in the World Finals on Saturday. Jason drove brilliantly all weekend and we've really come on leaps and bounds as a pairing this year - there's no one else I would have rather have gone through this crazy season with. I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Dream Racing, to Jason and the OSOM team, and to all my personal partners. I cannot remember a season I have enjoyed quite as much as this one."
