LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO NORTH AMERICA - ROUND TWO | 20 - 22 MAY
Charlie Martin was out on track at NOLA Motorsports Park for the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo NA championship
The Brit took an excellent pole position in her qualifying session, heading the field for the second race of the weekend with team mate Jason Keats lining up P5 for the first race
Treacherous weather conditions caused havoc on Saturday afternoon, delaying the opening race
A great start from Jason elevated the pair to P4 before a decisive strategy call to stay on wet tyres looked set to pay dividends
Closing in on the podium places, Charlie's efforts were hampered by a full-course yellow to the end of the race, confirming P4 at the chequered flag
Taking off from pole position in Sunday's race, Charlie consolidated the lead of the race during her 35-minute stint alongside setting the fastest lap in class before handing over to Jason to close the race
An unfortunate spin then relegated the pair to fifth place
Leaving New Orleans, Charlie occupies fifth place in the standings with 29 points
Charlie's next outing will take her to Watkins Glen on the weekend of June 24-26
CHARLIE'S WEEKEND REVIEW
“Our pace this weekend was really strong and that's very encouraging. The weather did its best to give us a few surprises but we handled the conditions well and made some good strategy calls that we we were unlucky didn't fall our way. I felt very comfortable in Sunday's race and lapped well. The spin for Jason was a shame towards the end but we can take lots of positives from the weekend and look ahead to Watkins Glen with confidence.”
