Charlie Martin claims pole position but endures a testing weekend at Spa Francorchamps

SPA FRANCORCHAMPS

LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE - ROUND TWO

29 JUNE - 1 JULY 2023

  • Charlie Martin claimed a class pole position but endured a testing weekend in changing conditions at Spa Francorchamps in round two of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship on the weekend.

  • After a fantastic start to the season at Paul Ricard, Charlie and her teammate, Jason Keats looked to keep the momentum going at one of the most iconic circuits in motorsport.

  • The weekend would get off to a strong start for the pair, with Charlie setting a blistering lap time in qualifying, even amongst traffic, to secure her first class pole position of the season.

  • Jason would also put in a strong performance in the second session that followed to claim P5.

  • Race one on Friday afternoon would see Charlie taking the green flag and leading the class for her entire stint, showcasing fantastic race pace in the process.

  • Unfortunately, the pair would not take the chequered flag as an incident meant they were unable to continue.

  • Race two on Saturday morning would see heavy wet conditions, and another incident would see the car unable to continue after it suffered damage, and the race was red flagged with only 4 laps completed.

  • Charlie and Jason will be back in action at the Nürburgring, Germany, on the 28-30 July.

"A difficult weekend at Spa on all fronts. I did my absolute best, securing pole position and holding P1 in class for my whole stint in race one, but the racing gods intervened and sadly our car didn't make the finish line."

"Race two brought heavy wet conditions, I was primed to jump in and start my stint but our car suffered damage from an impact that saw the race red flagged."

"A massive thank you to the team at Brutal Fish Racing and my teammate Jason for all your hard work, we go again at the Nürburgring at the end of July!"
