Hawkey aims high at Nürburgring

Travelling to the Nürburgring for the fourth round of the 2021 DTM championship, Esmee Hawkey is excited to take to the legendary circuit and looks forward to another positive weekend.

Esmee enjoyed her best weekend of the season to date at Zolder in Belgium with her first top-ten result in qualifying coupled with a brace of 13th place finishes in both races.

Gaining momentum at every round, the 23-year-old is keen to continue her excellent start to the season as the championship nears the halfway mark.

As the series returns to Germany, Esmee makes her first visit to the legendary Nürburgring circuit, one of the most revered tracks in the world - situated in the small town of Nurburg. She’ll navigate her T3 Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo around the 2.55-mile Sprint layout of the circuit, reaching top speeds of 165 miles per hour down the main straight.

“I’ve been looking forward to racing at the Nürburgring for a long time," Esmee said. “It’s a circuit cast in motorsport history so it’s very special to have the opportunity to race there myself. I’m feeling really confident after our performance at Zolder - I think we’re really hitting our stride and continuing to improve as every round passes and I’m positive that we’ll carry that forward this weekend too.”

Following the usual schedule for the weekend, Esmee will head out on track on Friday for two Free Practice sessions at 12:25 local time (11:15 BST) and 15:30 (14:30) respectively. The first Qualifying session of the weekend kicks off Saturday’s action at 10:20 (09:20) before the opening race of the weekend begins at 13:30 (12:30) on Saturday afternoon.

Returning on Sunday, Qualifying for the second race of the weekend begins at 10:15 (09:15) with the race itself following once again at 13:30 (12:30).

Friday’s Free Practice sessions will be live streamed on the DTM YouTube channel whilst viewers in the UK can catch all of the Qualifying and Race action live on BT Sport throughout the weekend, with Saturday’s Qualifying on BT Sport 3 and both races and Sunday’s Qualifying session on BT Sport 2.
