Jake Hill's 2022 BTCC season gets underway at Donington Park

Jake Hill is raring to go ahead of this weekend’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season-opener at Donington Park, where the BRDC SuperStar aims to get his season started on a high.

At the official Season Launch at Thruxton last week, Jake topped the leaderboard during the morning session by an impressive two-tenths of a second - ultimately ending the day second-fastest overall at the wheel of his ROKiT MB Motorsport BMW 330e M Sport. The Brit also posted the fourth highest lap count, completing 77 tours of the Hampshire track.

This weekend will mark the BTCC's first foray into hybrid power, the first major touring car championship in the world to make the leap to hybrid technology. New for 2022, Jake will make use of the Hybrid Energy Management system onboard his BMW - which will provide him with up to 15 seconds of additional power in any one lap.

Spurred on by his strong showing at the Season Launch, and excited to get the season started, Jake is full of confidence heading into the opening round.

“I’ve been desperate for the season to start ever since we wrapped up last year so I’m really excited to get going this weekend,” Jake said. “Our winter programme went well and that’s a real confidence boost as you head into a new season. Donington is one of my favourite circuits, having finished second here last time out in September. I love the challenge of some of the fast, sweeping corners like the Craner Curves and the technical elements like the chicane.”

Coverage of the weekend’s action will be available across the ITV network - with Saturday’s qualifying available to watch online at itv.com/btcc from 15:25. An action-packed schedule of racing will follow for Jake on Sunday - which will be live throughout the day on ITV4 and ITV Hub from 10:50.Live timing will also be available for all sessions via TSL-Timing.com.
