MB Partners are pleased to announce that Jake Hughes will return to FIA Formula 2 with HWA RACELAB at the championship’s final round in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

Jake has returned to the Formula One feeder series with the team from Affalterbach on two occasions this season, at both Monza and Sochi - with his last outing in Sochi seeing Jake record his best-ever finish in FIA F2 with a P4 finish in Saturday’s first sprint race.
The result in Sochi also marked HWA RACELAB’s best finish in 2021 and Jake is looking to replicate that success this weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit.
The circuit, which opened in 2009, has undergone significant alterations since 2020 and the redesign is intended to aid overtaking opportunities at the circuit. Jake returns to the track for the first time since 2018 - where he ended his GP3 campaign on the podium with a P2 finish - and also recorded victory at the circuit in the 2016 season.
“I’m really excited to be racing with HWA RACELAB again this weekend,” Jake said. “It’s going to be an emotional weekend with the team as they make their final appearance in the championship - and having raced in both F3 and F2 with HWA since 2019 it’s going to be sad to see them depart.
I’m hoping to end the season positively with the team and I always enjoy coming to Abu Dhabi. The changes to the circuit will hopefully make the racing more exciting and if we can end the weekend with more points on the board then it will be a successful outing!”
The action begins on Friday morning with Free Practice at 11:35 local time (07:35 GMT) followed by Qualifying at 18:30 (14:30) later in the day. An action-packed Saturday sees the two Sprint Races take place at 12:20 (08:20) and 18:45 (14:45) respectively with the Feature Race following on Sunday morning at 13:00 (09:00).
Viewers in the UK can catch all of the action live on Sky Sports F1 throughout the weekend and follow live timing through the official FIA Formula 2 website.
