Jake Hughes lines up for Sochi with HWA RACELAB

MB Partners are pleased to announce that Jake Hughes will continue in FIA Formula 2 with HWA RACELAB at the championship’s upcoming round in Sochi this weekend.

Jake returned to the series with the team from Affalterbach at the championship’s last round in Monza, where the Brit quickly got up to speed - recording a P12 finish in the opening Sprint Race of the weekend.

Heading to Sochi, Jake returns to the site of his FIA F2 debut twelve months ago, also with HWA RACELAB. In that year’s Feature Race, an impressive performance from Jake saw him claim P12 in his very first race in F2 machinery.

Utilising the experience gained at Monza, Jake looks ahead to Sochi with the aim of another strong performance.

Located on the Black Sea, the Sochi Autodrom occupies the former site of the 2014 Winter Olympics. Featuring a sweeping, 750-metre left-hander and a series of 90º turns, the 5.848km circuit is a true technical challenge.

“I’m really excited to be racing with HWA RACELAB again this weekend,” Jake said. “I’m looking forward to continuing what we started at Monza, I think there’s potential for a very positive weekend. I’ll also be drawing on my experience from last year’s visit and looking to put that to good use. Once again I’d like to say thank you to HWA RACELAB for trusting me and bringing me onboard for the weekend.”

The action begins on Friday morning with Free Practice at 10:05 local time (08:05 BST) followed by Qualifying at 16:25 (14:25) later in the day. An action-packed Saturday sees the two Sprint Races take place at 10:30 (08:30) and 16:45 (14:45) respectively with the Feature Race following on Sunday morning at 11:20 (09:20).

Viewers in the UK can catch all of the action live on Sky Sports F1 throughout the weekend and follow live timing through the official FIA Formula 2 website.
