Jake Hughes set for scorching Monza weekend

Jake Hughes is set for the Italian Grand Prix weekend as the FIA Formula 3 Championship arrives at Monza for the penultimate round of the season.

After a disappointing turn of events in Belgium, where Jake’s rapid pace went unrewarded through poor luck and misfortune, the 26-year-old heads to Monza with the aim of returning to his front-running form seen in Great Britain and Spain.

During last year’s visit to the Italian circuit, Jake scored a third-placed podium in the second race of the weekend - excelling in the wet conditions to make his fourth visit of the year to the rostrum. He also claimed another third place in FIA F3’s predecessor, the GP3 Series, in 2016.

The high-speed nature of the infamous Monza track favours a low-downforce car setup that maximises outright top-speed. Jake and the HWA RACELAB team opted to run the setup in Belgium to give him a better understanding of the low-drag setup - which paid off well as he gained twelve places throughout the second race.

Weather conditions are expected to be dry throughout the weekend with temperatures set to be warm at around 30ºC across all three days, similar to those seen at Barcelona three weeks ago.

“I’ve been looking forward to Monza as it’s a track I’ve fared well at in the past. We’re keen to put Belgium behind us as a team and, based on how we did last year here, we should be able to turn things around this weekend. As long as everything falls into place, we can be confident of some good results coming our way.”
