Misfortune for Jake Hughes in Hyderabad

2023 HYDERABAD E-PRIX

ROUND FOUR | 10 - 11 FEBRUARY

  • Misfortune struck Jake Hughes in Hyderabad with a DNF in round four of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

  • After another strong qualifying performance where Jake topped his qualifying group, a pit lane infringement resulted in a P21 start for the British driver.

  • Making a great start to Saturday's race, Jake was making good progress and he climbed up through the field and toward the top-ten.

  • However, a stray piece of debris struck Jake's wing mirror, forcing it loose. Unfortunately, this mirror eventually fell off and became lodged behind Jake's steering wheel, bringing his race to an unfortunate early end.

  • ABB FIA Formula E returns in Cape Town for round five of the championship on the 24-25 February, with Jake 7th in the Drivers Championship with 27 points.

“It was a disappointing end to our weekend here in Hyderabad. My performance in the race felt like one of my best so far. I topped my Group in qualifying, but due to an issue with one of our pit stops, we started the race from P21. I felt comfortable during the race, I was managing my energy well, which is a big positive to take away. I felt we made a step forward this week in that regard. Unfortunately, my race came to an early end as a piece of debris got lodged in my steering wheel, leaving me unable to continue. The results here weren’t quite what we wanted, however I want to give a huge thanks to the team, I’m immensely proud and grateful of all the work they put in. We can still go into Cape Town with confidence and hopefully we will get good results there.”
