Mixed emotions on British F4 debut for Kanato Le

DONINGTON PARK

ROKiT BRITISH FORMULA 4 CHAMPIONSHIP - ROUND ONE

22-23 APRIL 2023

  • The weekend saw Kanato Le make his debut in the ROKiT British Formula 4 Championship with Hitech GP at Donington Park.

  • Kanato would kickstart his weekend with a solid showing in qualifying where he would secure P12 for the opening race of the season.

  • Race one saw Kanato showcase excellent racecraft and strong pace, making up multiple positions to take the chequered flag in P6. However, race officials deemed that track limits had been exceeded, and handed Kanato a five second penalty which saw his finishing position altered to P9, picking up 2 Championship points.

  • The reverse grid saw Kanato start race two in P11, and he immediately went on the offensive. Multiple overtakes soon saw Kanato battling for the lead at the front of the pack before contact from a rival sent him into a spin. Kanato would quickly regain control after dropping to P9 and was able to bring the car home P4, setting a lap time only beaten by the race winner.

  • Starting in P11, challenging conditions would await Kanato in the final race of the day and he would battle amongst the front-runners for position before contact with the inside kerb, sent him spinning off the track and out of the points positions, taking the chequered flag in P16.

  • After the culminations of the opening weekend, a points total of 17 sees Kanato currently sitting inside the top 10 in the Drivers Championship.

  • Kanato's maiden ROKiT British F4 season will continue at Brands Hatch Indy circuit on the 6-7 May.

"I'm feeling very positive after this weekend. At times I showed some great pace and was calculated with my overtaking. I was happy to finish P4 in race 2 but I honestly think I could've finished even higher. It felt good to be back racing again! A massive thank you to the fantastic team at Hitech GP for their support and to MB Partners and Elliot Harvey as always. I'll keep working hard and I'm looking forward to getting back out there for the next round at Brands Hatch in a couple of weeks"
