More points for Hughes in São Paulo

2023 SÃO PAULO E-PRIX

ROUND SIX | 24 - 25 MARCH

  • The sixth round saw the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship make it's debut in Brazil, with the teams and drivers taking on the challenging streets of São Paulo. It was a well executed weekend for Jake Hughes who added some more championship points to his tally, guiding his NEOM McLaren home in P8.

  • Jake showed good pace during qualifying which saw him progress through to the duels before eventually placing the car on the third row, finishing the session P6.

  • After a chaotic start to the race, Jake settled into his rhythm and showed consistency, crossing the finish line in P8.

  • The P8 finish means Jake collected four championship points, taking his total for the season to 32.

  • Jake currently occupies 10th position in the Drivers' Championship, with his NEOM McLaren Formula E Team P6 in the Teams' Championship with 72 points.

  • The seventh round of the ABB FIA Formula E will see the teams and drivers return to Europe, heading to Berlin on the weekend commencing 21 April.

It’s nice to have finished with some points in São Paulo this weekend. I’ve scored points in five out of six races so far, so it’s been a good start to the year – and it’s continued today. I think we had a strong race, however the start was difficult. From that point onwards we managed to deliver a good race. We were really good with our energy management, something that has improved throughout the season. We just didn’t have the performance, balance or rear tyres to really do much more. We still have some areas to improve in, but for what we have right now, I think myself and the team managed a good race. We’re executing our races very well at the moment and hopefully we can bring some more points at our next race in Berlin in a few weeks.
