Japanese racer Kanato Le recorded a brace of podium finishes in the eighth round of the Ginetta Junior Championship - moving himself up to 6th in the Drivers' Championship and 2nd in the Rookie Cup
Kanato kick-started his weekend in fine form as he secured two front-row starting positions in the weekend's qualifying session - qualifying in second place for races one and two at Silverstone
Starting from the front row in race one, Kanato got a great start and took the lead of the race on the first lap
Locked in a tight battle with the top-four drivers, the four traded positions for a number of laps before Kanato and Rowledge distanced themselves from the pack
Running in second place, Kanato stayed within a tenth of the race leader for a number of laps but couldn't find a way past - settling for second place at the flag to record another podium and rookie win
In the second race of the day, Kanato again lined up on the front row and got a fantastic start, and took the lead of the race
However, misfortune struck Kanato as he hit a patch of oil and spun out of the race lead, and fell right to the back of the pack
Motivated to recover his race, Kanato delivered a sensational performance as he fought his way back the 22nd to cross the finishing line in 5th place - taking a rookie podium in a truly remarkable drive!
In the final race of the weekend, Kanato started on the third row of the grid and once again got an amazing start as he took the lead of the race after the first lap
Looking set to take another victory in the Ginetta Junior Championship, Kanato was dealt a huge blow as he was once again this season, taken out from the lead of the race by another driver on the final lap
Kanato managed to bring his car home for a fourth-place finish and was later promoted onto the podium in third place - bagging another rookie podium in the process
This weekend's showing sees Kanato move up to 6th in the Drivers' Championship with 332 points - after collecting 76 points across the weekend - and moves into 2nd in the Rookie Cup
The Japanese racer is back in action for the Ginetta Junior Championship season finale at Brands Hatch GP circuit (8 - 9 October)
“To move up the championship with a great haul of points and a few trips to the podium makes our weekend at Silverstone a success! The team did great all weekend and gave me such a strong car. We were hit with bad luck a few times this weekend, which was frustrating, but we showed our composure to bounce back every time. I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Elite Motorsport, MB Partners, Elliot Harvey & Jake Hill for all of their help this weekend - roll on the finale!"
