Top-five finish for Hughes in Austria

  • Round eight of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 championship saw Jake head to the Red Bull Ring, Austria

  • Jake got his weekend off to a brilliant start as he finished as the fastest driver in free practice

  • However, he couldn't replicate this result in qualifying and ended the session in 19th position

  • Making progress in the Sprint Race, Jake crossed the finishing line in 16th place

  • In Sunday's Feature Race, Jake and his team executed an excellent tyre strategy and delivered a good improvement in race pace to finish the race in 5th place

  • Jake's P5 result marks his second-best result of the season and his third consecutive feature race points finish

  • This result pushes Jake up to 15th in the Drivers' Championship with 26 points

  • A short break for Jake and the F2 paddock before they return to action at Circuit Paul Ricard, France in two weeks' time (22 - 24 July)

"Overall, a positive weekend with some good points collected in Sunday's Feature Race. Once again, our pace improved more as the weekend progressed which is a real positive. To go from P19 to P5 in Sunday's race is a fantastic result and was a great job by the team on strategy. Three feature races in a row in the points, now let's go to France and keep the momentum rolling for some more points!"
