MBP are delighted to announce that two-time FIA WEC World Champion and 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours winner, Mike Conway, remains with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing for the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship.

Set to contest his ninth season with the Japanese marque, Mike signed with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing back in 2014 as the team’s test and reserve driver. Stepping into the race seat for three races during the campaign, Mike scored a victory in Bahrain in only his second race with the team.

Racking up 65 race starts with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, Mike has collected an outstanding 17 race wins and 36 podiums in the top class of the World Endurance Championship and has been crowned World Champion twice in the 2019/20 and 2021 seasons.

Mike has also made eight appearances at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing. Winning the race in 2021, Mike also stepped on the podium a further five times in the twice-around-the-clock event.

Mike’s record makes him the most successful British driver ever in the FIA WEC with seventeen wins and with his victory in Bahrain earlier this month, he became the first driver to achieve six wins at a single FIA WEC circuit. A podium finish in Fuji this year meant that Mike also became just the 4th driver in the championship’s history to finish 40 races on the podium (36 - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, 5 - G-Drive Racing).

Lining up for the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship in the Hypercar class, Mike will pilot the #7 GR010 HYBRID alongside regular teammates Kamui Kobayashi (Japan) and José María López (Argentina) and they will now become the first top-class trio to compete in six consecutive FIA WEC seasons together.

Mike Conway:

"It's going to be an exciting challenge in WEC next season and I am really pleased to be part of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing for the start of this new era in endurance racing. It won't be easy, that's for sure, with so many manufacturers joining, but to have the chance to win Le Mans in its centenary year is a massive motivation. To see such a big grid of Hypercars fighting for the victory will be something special and I'm looking forward to being part of that."
